Summary

An insightful biblical and conversational response from Dr。 Tony Evans and his four children—Chrystal Evans Hurst, Priscilla Shirer, Anthony Evans, and Jonathan Evans—on how God uses the hard things of this life to draw us into a deeper faith in Him。

Divine Disruption explores the many hardships we experience in life and how God breaks through with the power of hope。 In the book, Dr。 Tony Evans and his four children—Chrystal Evans Hurst, Priscilla Shirer, Anthony Evans, and Jonathan Evans—discuss their faith-shaking experiences: from the deep grief of losing six loved ones in less than two years' time, with the most devastating blow being the death of Lois Evans, the matriarch of the family, to a deep dive into dealing with the various hard, unexpected things we all face。 Life throws many curves—whether the loss of a job or health due to the ongoing worldwide pandemic, or marriage and relationship issues, problems with children, even the recent racial and political unrest。

The authors step together into a unique Kingdom Legacy partnership, opening themselves to the honest questions, raw emotions, and solutions they learned to cling to amid their various struggles as they honor their mother’s wish to work together。 Through their bond and individual strengths, they demonstrate how even the most devastating tragedies can bring glory to God as He continues to meet their needs and build their faith。

Grab your tissues, your hanky (to wave) and get ready to be blessed。 An awe inspiring read is story of how God showed up and how each family member processed all that came their way。 It is full of hope and wisdom。

I wasn't sure what to expect from this book。 What I discovered was a family with such strong unbreakable faith。 I would recommend this book to anyone who has suffered loss or anybody struggling with anything。 For me there was clarity, hope and strength in their words。 The great thing about books is that everyone has a different perspective of what they got out of the book。 One of the main things that I got out of this book was how important my role as a momma and a wife is to my family。 I also h I wasn't sure what to expect from this book。 What I discovered was a family with such strong unbreakable faith。 I would recommend this book to anyone who has suffered loss or anybody struggling with anything。 For me there was clarity, hope and strength in their words。 The great thing about books is that everyone has a different perspective of what they got out of the book。 One of the main things that I got out of this book was how important my role as a momma and a wife is to my family。 I also have a better understanding of how your faith can sustain you when your heart is breaking。 。。。more

Applause! Applause!Am I applauding all of the hurt, loss, and emptiness that this family endured in such a short span of time on top of the regular hurts, losses, and emptiness that life brings? Absolutely not!I am applauding their transparency and candidness; their willingness to throw the covers off and, in the midst of doing so, to allow their onlookers to pull them off with questions of our own, as witnessed in their televised Wednesday evening service that transitioned into a very raw and heart-felt question and answer session。 This book is an in your face (and heart) account of a family's unconditional love, commitment, selflessness, sacrifice, devotion, dedication for one another, cloaked and soaked in their heart's surrender to the Lord Jesus Christ。 Without such a surrender, there's no way they could have continued to place one foot in front of the other。 Yet, with their eyes on the Lord, they did。 Not only did these four move forward in God's grace and commitment to them, so did Lois, with much grace and peace。 In fact, each in her/his own way, make it quite clear that she did and, in doing so, strengthened them。Her strength and theirs, strengthens the reader。。。 gives us hope。。。 gives us a template for the handling of hard times; for how we should engage with one another and, most importantly, how we should engage with our Lord when life is disrupted, even to the point of breaking our hearts even if it's over and over and over again。Thank you, Evans Family, for standing and having done all, still you stand。 Amen and Praise God! 。。。more

I just love this family, the way they teach and how They stress about the importance about your relationship with God。 No matter how we fail and want to give up so many time our faith and love for God will always get us through if we just hold on and seek God in all we do。

Such a brutifully honest window into the hard heartshaping events families endure and how the power and person of Jesus can shine through them, if we'll let Him。 I thoroughly enjoyed how each member of the family shared their unique perspective of the shared experiences。 What if this was how brothers and sisters in the church chose to walk through these difficult times we're in? Who wouldn't want to draw near to that and get to know Jesus by our love? This book is a gem。 It feels like you are having an honest conversation with the family and laughing and at some points crying through their journey because their journey is also your journey at various points in your life。 I'm so blessed by "listening in" and several times putting the book down to speak to the Lord about some of the places that I am experiencing healing。 Thank you for writing this book。 This book is a gem。 It feels like you are having an honest conversation with the family and laughing and at some points crying through their journey because their journey is also your journey at various points in your life。 I'm so blessed by "listening in" and several times putting the book down to speak to the Lord about some of the places that I am experiencing healing。 Thank you for writing this book。 。。。more

“We pray, Let this cup pass from me。 But we have to believe that God knows what He is doing when He’s not doing what we want Him to do。” This is the heart from which the rest of the book is written。 The Evan’s/Hurst/Shirer family has beautifully walked us through what it looks like to walk out what you say you believe! I can feel the hurt, but I can also feel the trust in Abba and the love they know He has for them。 Thank you for this…

This book! AND this family is incredible! I loved every bit of this book! Hearing their stories told from their perspective makes it even more special。 Please read this book and share this book with others。 Their ministry is a huge blessing to so many。 Seeing them continue to move on and continue to serve well after these past few years is so encouraging。 Not everyone can "bounce" back into ministry after a season like that。 Love them! As I began reading Divine Disruption, I could easily picture myself sitting down at the table and talking to the Evans family。 Their lives, filled with much loss, grief, and disruptions over the past few years, mirrored the road that my family is walking right now as well。 Each member of the Evans family so graciously and humbly shared their hearts, giving us a view of their highs and lows during a very trying time in the life of their family。 Dr。 Evans encourages the reader to look at the trial As I began reading Divine Disruption, I could easily picture myself sitting down at the table and talking to the Evans family。 Their lives, filled with much loss, grief, and disruptions over the past few years, mirrored the road that my family is walking right now as well。 Each member of the Evans family so graciously and humbly shared their hearts, giving us a view of their highs and lows during a very trying time in the life of their family。 Dr。 Evans encourages the reader to look at the trials and test in this life as a "divine disruption," a time God can use to change our hearts and the trajectory of our lives going forward, making the conscious choice to view these disruptions through the lens of an eternal perspective。 Having gone through the sickness and loss of my father in what was already a unprecedented year (2020), I too, have tried to look at things from an eternal perspective, searching for what God wanted to teach me through all the " divine disruptions" that kept coming。 The following quote from Dr。 Evans rings so true as I move forward after losing my father: "Sometimes God allows discomfort and distress because He wants us to move closer to Him。 We don't cling to God nearly as much in the carefree times, when things are smooth。 We run to God when things are frightening or tough。" What if we looked at hard times as "divine disruptions" instead of taking them at face value? If you're struggling with finding meaning in the trials and tests that come along in life, then I encourage you to read "Divine Disruption。" As you do, I think you'll be motivated to look at the things of this world from an eternal perspective! 。。。more

It’s not often you find an author that can speak directly to your heart。 And to find a book with 5 authors that can do just that is incredible。 This book, paired with an open and willing spirit, can help bring healing in places of deep pain and grief。 Dr。 Evans and his children speak candidly and passionately about grief, faith struggles, and how to face the unimaginable without loosing Hope。 If life seems unbearable at times and you find yourself asking “why?” This book is for you!

The book starts off talking about the family they lost and ends with talking about legacy。 I love how it is broken up so that each individual was telling the stories from their point of views。 The reader will feel as though they are sitting down in the Evans home, having coffee and listening into a family discussion。 I love this quote from Dr。 Tony Evans on page 154, “A high view of God says the crisis no longer has the last word。 I cannot deny the circumstances, but I can refuse to give circums The book starts off talking about the family they lost and ends with talking about legacy。 I love how it is broken up so that each individual was telling the stories from their point of views。 The reader will feel as though they are sitting down in the Evans home, having coffee and listening into a family discussion。 I love this quote from Dr。 Tony Evans on page 154, “A high view of God says the crisis no longer has the last word。 I cannot deny the circumstances, but I can refuse to give circumstances the final say。”This book is definitely a must read, not just for people who have followed the Evans family, but for anyone who has gone through difficult times and need to know that God is still there and that there is hope。 。。。more

This book is one of the most honest I have ever read。 From the opening pages, I could feel the emotions of the family。 I love the conversational flow。 You see the real Evans family- their struggles and their pain。 However, through it all you see their faith and you are reminded that God is always present。 This book is a wonderful reminder that even when life breaks your heart, God is always good。

This book is like being on a zoom meeting: five different view points, all coming to terms with how to go on living in faith while you are hurting。 I definitely was moved to tears by their honest feelings and their journey。 This book is inspiring and helpful。 I am just in awe of this family’s legacy。 They have kept their promise to their mom。

This book is a tear jerker but a must read! It makes you feel like you’re not alone in struggling when you go through hard times, but it gives you hope that God has not abandoned you。

This is an excellent read! Reading the book feels like sitting down with each member of the Evans' family to talk。 It is well written and aligns with the Word of God。 Times are hard and having a solid faith is critical。 The book does not minimize the impact of loss, but it does give real life insight into how to manage yourself through the hurt。 I highly recommend! I am currently reading this book and I love how it talks about, even in pain there is trust and in the middle of a storm something beautiful is happening。 I can relate this to how God has helped me in my own storms and I love a book that God can speak to me through others。 Wonderful book!

The family has always been nothing but inspiring in their individual endeavors but now to have this book is truly a gift。 The same commitment and blessing they bring individually is now put together in one project。 I recommend it 100% A Must Read! Engaging & Inspiring。

This was such a blessing to read。 Real people experiencing real grief and not sugarcoating it, but inviting us in as they share how they worked through it。 Dr。 Evans’ wrote that our feeling are the caboose when we are in a relationship with Christ and I completely agree。 I lost my mom in 2010 and my sister in 2020 and I am so grateful for their words pointing us to God。

Dr。 Tony Evans and his daughter, Priscilla Shirer, have been two of my favorite Bible teachers for years。 The entire Evans family joins together on this project, and I love the conversational style of the book。 It’s a candid and moving testimony of trusting God in the most difficult times。 The book has challenged me, inspired me, encouraged me, and made me cry。 Through it all, I could see the hand of God! ♥️

The book shares with its readers The Evans’ Family personal, transparent and heartfelt experiences of their mother’s demise。 The majority of discussions come with scripture to show how each family member relied on scripture during their grieving period。 Definitely, I recommend the book for individuals caring for a loved-ones。 Very encouraging!!

Reading this book has changed my perspective on disruption, interruption and inconvenience。 The Evans family not only displayed their hearts and vulnerabilities through the pages of the book, but I learned disruption is not a respecter of persons。 Disruption is necessary to shift me into my next assignment and calling。 Disruption is not a punishment but an invitation to something higher。

This book came at a time when I had lost 3 family members within a months time。 One I was in ministry with so it really hit hard。 Reading this book let me know I was human in how I was feeling and reminded me of the hope I have in Christ to keep moving forward。 Awesome book from beginning to end with all the different perspectives from each of the Evans family members。 I could relate with each one。 This book was truly uplifting and inspiring。 Thank you Evans family for this project。

Deborah Rodriguez

Deeply insightful and encouraging。 Divine Disruption will challenge you to believe in God’s heart even when we don’t understand his hand。

This book blessed me from the very first page until the last。 As someone who has personally lost 3 family members in 7 months, I felt like the Evans’ family wrote Divine Disruptions just for me and I am so very thankful。

To me this is a book of reminders。 Through their own personal loss, pain and heartbreak the Evans family shows and reminds us that God is a real, present, and good good Father。 They speak straight from the heart。 And they never let us forget that no matter the situation, God is still in control。 This book has caused me to desire and seek a closer walk with God。 It reminded me that GOD is GOD at all times。 And it assures me that God is in the midst of every situation in my life。 This is not a "st To me this is a book of reminders。 Through their own personal loss, pain and heartbreak the Evans family shows and reminds us that God is a real, present, and good good Father。 They speak straight from the heart。 And they never let us forget that no matter the situation, God is still in control。 This book has caused me to desire and seek a closer walk with God。 It reminded me that GOD is GOD at all times。 And it assures me that God is in the midst of every situation in my life。 This is not a "study" from an Evans family member, but like those studies, God and His Word are at the center。 I needed this read at this point in my life。 Thanks to the Evans family for being willing to share their hearts in the most difficult time in their lives。 。。。more

This is the perfect book to encourage you in the midst of grief and loss。 I’ll be honest, your faith speaks volumes when you continue to live for and love the Lord when you’re going through the toughest seasons of your life and boy—the Evans family has been through it。 But this book is evidence that this family practices what it preaches。God is with them。 God is with us。 Even in the valley。This book is proof of that。Get this book and be encouraged。

What a great book! I love reading how other people go through loss。 I have went through loss myself, but never really dealt with them。 We all go through it different but the one thing we all have in common is GOD! Everyone should read this。 Excellent book!
